Worship

St. Augustine’s services are not conducted by our clergy alone. Our parish members are a vital and necessary element of our worship practice.

  • The first person you meet as you approach the church welcomes and guides you to enter our home. We answer your questions then guide you on to the usher or Welcome Table staff as appropriate.

  • For those who are newcomers the staff person greets and assists you in getting a name badge and gives you information about our church and service

  • Gives you a program and assists with seating or any other special needs you may have included accessibility.

  • We read the lessons and the prayers of the people so all may hear the Word.

  • We serve the congregation during the service by representing them in wearing the Alb, a robe which signifies our baptism by the color white. We carry the cross and torches, assist the presider holding torches by the Gospel book when it is read, provide various articles to the presider, and clean up the altar during the service.

  • We set up the altar and the containers of bread and wine. We make sure everything is clean and neat both before and after the service. We provide the flower arrangements for the different services throughout the liturgical year
